A Father. A Son. 9,563 Miles of Baseball and Open Road.

Cycling to every Major League Baseball stadium across the U.S. and Canada — revisiting a dream from the past while building one for the future, side by side. Along the way, we’re raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Purpose in every mile.

Beginning March 26 in Seattle and ending September 26 in Miami, Scott and his son Ethan will ride 9,563 miles by bicycle to visit every Major League Baseball stadium. Reimagining a cross-country ride Scott completed in 1994, the journey is rooted in connection, perseverance, and shared purpose - while raising funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, with 100% of proceeds supporting lifesaving pediatric cancer research and care.

THE RIDERS

Two men with sunglasses smiling, one standing on a bicycle and the other on a tandem bike, in a wooded outdoor setting.

Scott is about to set off on a 9,563-mile bicycle adventure with his son, Ethan, as they pedal to every Major League Baseball stadium. The journey allows Scott to revisit the excitement he first experienced in 1994, when he crossed the country by bike with three college track and field teammates to visit each ballpark. Now, thirty-two years later, riding alongside Ethan, Scott looks forward to sharing both the challenging and rewarding days on the open road while taking in the beauty of baseball. He is eager for Ethan to meet new people, discover new places across the United States and Canada, and experience this unforgettable adventure together, side by side.

Why This Ride

MATTERS

We are proudly supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through our Bike2Ballparks ride, donating 100% of the proceeds to bring hope and healing to children fighting pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Guided by the vision that no child should die in the dawn of life, St. Jude drives groundbreaking research and compassionate care that has raised the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% in 1962 to more than 80% today.

By supporting St. Jude through this cross-country cycling journey to every Major League Baseball stadium, we help fund innovative treatments, clinical trials, and global sharing of breakthroughs - giving more children the hope of beating cancer, enjoying childhood, and growing up healthy. Every contribution moves us closer to cures and brighter futures for these brave kids and their families.

A PERSONAL WHY

Scott has long been moved by the care and compassion that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital provides to families when cancer enters their lives. The stories shared during their fundraising efforts - raw, honest, and deeply human - left a lasting impression, especially hearing parents speak openly about the moment their child was diagnosed.

That connection became deeply personal when one of Scott’s favorite professors at Cal Poly Humboldt, Dr. Richard Stull, lost his young daughter to cancer. Reading her obituary, Scott found himself overwhelmed with grief -an experience he has never forgotten. It is impossible for him to imagine what it would feel like to face that loss as a parent.

This ride is an invitation to turn those feelings into action - to log meaningful miles, raise awareness, and help generate financial support for children and families so more young lives have the chance to be fully lived.

This journey is better when it’s shared.

Bike2Ballparks is an open ride, and everyone is welcome to join for a segment — or two — along the way. Riders can hop in for a mile, a day, or a longer stretch of the journey.

Our only fixed dates are the baseball games listed on the schedule. Daily riding distances will vary based on game timing, terrain, climate, and planned rest days, with the goal of keeping mileage reasonable so there’s time to enjoy the ride.

We’ll be traveling with an RV that serves as a mobile base camp for family and friends, but guest riders should plan to be fully self-supported with their own bike, nutrition, and camping gear.

Each segment will be planned one at a time. Start times, finish locations, and routes will be shared in advance via social media, with routes posted on the Ride with GPS app. As one segment wraps up, we’ll do our best to organize and share details for the next segment — including approximate stopping points — ahead of time.

For the Love of Baseball.

Scott and Ethan have always shared a deep love for baseball. Now, they’re grateful to take the game on the road - doing what they love while working to make an impact.
